Description
Laguna Lake is a special place for me. I grew up going there often to either gaze at the lake and to play in the ‘forest’ or on the playground. I vividly remember both when the lake flooded and spread across Madonna Rd and also when we were in a severe drought and the entire lake dried up, complete with old TVs, boots, and watches. On a peaceful warm day, I headed out there, with platinum blonde and magenta hair, set up my easel, and began painting the view. My husband joined me an hour and a half later and we hung out for a bit and then packed up and got lunch. My biggest amusement with these plein air paintings is that few people comment early in the painting stages but by the end, almost every passerby made a wonderful comment. My plein air paintings in 2017 were quick and full of brushstrokes and served as such a great escape during a time of self-discovery.
Original oil on canvas, 16×20″, framed with a handmade float frame in satin black.
